If you’re recently invested in a wood-burning furnace for your home or cottage, you’ve probably noticed a few different options for firewood available in your area. These options are dry seasoned firewood and unseasoned firewood.
For those unfamiliar with firewood, we thought we would take a moment to explain the difference. Seasoned firewood refers to firewood that has already been dried. The benefit of dried firewood is that it can be thrown into the stove without issue.
Unseasoned wood, however, is not dry. When you purchase unseasoned wood—also known as green wood—you need to wait until it is dry before you can burn it. If you do not wait until the wood has dried, the wood will not burn efficiently.

The benefit of unseasoned firewood is the affordability. With unseasoned firewood, you can pay less. After we deliver the firewood to your door, all you have to do is let it sit in a dry area for several months. If you have a shed or large garage, unseasoned wood is your best choice.
